In this tutorial we will have a look at how to use the bill of materials function. Bill of materials is when you have a combined product, meaning a group of products sold together. When the customer adds the item that is indicated as bill of materials to the basket, the products that you, as the shop owner, have decided belong to the bill of materials will automatically be added to the basket. I.e. if your shop wants to sell a Do-It-You-self-kit (DIY kit), your customer can add the DIY kit to the basket, and automatically, the items you have decided belong in the DIY kit are added as well. The individual items cannot be removed from the basket. If they do so, the whole DIY kit will be removed.
In order to create Bill of materials; from the front page go to Product list.
Then click on “Create new kit”.
Now Bill of materials is ticked off like shown below.
Then enter the name of the product and fill in the rest of the blanks as described in How to set up a product and press “Save”.
Create the items, which you want to be part of your bill of materials.
To connect your products to the bill of materials go to Product list and enter your bill of materials product.
Click the Bill of materials tab and click “Assign” to the products you want to be part of your bill of materials.
When you have pressed “Assign” you also have to enter a quantity just above the product list. The quantity indicates how many units of the item that goes with the bill of material. Remember to click on “save quantity”.
In order to view the bill of materials in your webshop, you must create a menu relation.
Now you can go to show shop, find your products, add them to your basket and this is how they appear in check out.
When you unfold the DIY kit, your bill of material, you will see what it contains.
